VP of Marketing

HR Tech
Position Overview

Overview

Our client is a growth-equity enterprise software business transforming the way large organisations attract, engage and hire talent. Their technology sits alongside existing enterprise HR systems to create better experiences for candidates and hiring teams, and the business has already built a strong enterprise customer base across multiple industries.

Now entering a significant new stage of growth, they are looking for a VP of Marketing to build the marketing function from the ground up.

This is a genuine 0→1 leadership role and not a traditional brand, communications or lead-generation position. You will shape how the business is positioned, how it creates demand and how Marketing contributes directly to winning larger enterprise customers.

You’ll own positioning and narrative, content, demand generation, product marketing, buyer education and the operating systems behind the function, while working closely with Sales, Product and Customer Success across the full customer journey. The right person will understand how complex enterprise technology deals are won and will be equally comfortable defining the strategy and getting hands-on with execution. Success will be measured by commercial impact: stronger pipeline quality, better opportunity progression, improved win rates, higher ACV and ultimately, revenue growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and lead the marketing function from the ground up, establishing the strategy, operating model, technology, partners and future team required to scale.
  • Define and sharpen the company’s positioning, translating a complex enterprise technology product into clear, differentiated customer value.
  • Build a content and buyer education engine around the real questions, challenges, objections and decisions enterprise customers face.
  • Develop thought leadership, customer proof, events, webinars, nurture programmes and content that helps customers move through complex buying journeys.
  • Create demand and engagement within priority enterprise accounts and buying groups, strengthening outbound conversion while building sustainable inbound demand.
  • Work directly with Sales on live opportunities, creating proof, content and enablement that improve buyer confidence, deal progression, win rates and ACV.
  • Partner closely with Product on positioning, launches, packaging and translating product capabilities into language enterprise buyers care about.
  • Create a connected customer journey across Marketing, Sales and Customer Success, removing traditional functional handoffs.
  • Build the marketing operations, data and reporting infrastructure required to measure pipeline quality, buying-group engagement, opportunity progression, win rate, ACV and revenue impact.
  • Use AI meaningfully across research, content creation, analysis and automation to build a highly leveraged, AI-native marketing function.

Requirements:

  • Strong B2B SaaS or enterprise technology marketing experience, with credible experience marketing to complex enterprise customers and buying groups.
  • Genuine evidence of building or materially shaping a marketing function from 0→1, ideally within an early-scale business environment; commercially, approximately $1m–$10m is provided as a guide.
  • Strong GTM, growth and commercial orientation, with an understanding of how Marketing directly influences revenue.
  • Demonstrable strength across positioning, content and demand generation.
  • Evidence of marketing activity influencing pipeline quality, opportunity progression, win rate, ACV or revenue rather than focusing primarily on traditional marketing metrics.
  • Strong experience working closely with Sales and Product, with an understanding of how complex enterprise technology deals are actually won.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, with the ability to turn complex products and propositions into compelling, differentiated narratives.
  • A clear point of view on modern B2B buying behaviour and the role Marketing should play throughout the enterprise sales journey.
  • Meaningful, practical use of AI within your own workflows for research, creation, analysis and automation.
  • A hands-on, ownership-driven approach with the ability to move between high-level strategy and execution. Experience within HR Tech, Talent Acquisition or the broader HCM ecosystem is valuable, but not essential.
