Senior HR Manager

Financial Services
Position Overview

Overview:

Our client is an award-winning fintech offering international money transfer and investment solutions to South Africans, currently in a high-growth, scale-up phase after significantly expanding its money transfer offering and operational footprint. Operations sit at the heart of the business, and this role offers genuine, broad exposure across processes, systems and teams as the company continues to scale.

They’re looking for a Senior HR Manager (also referred to internally as People Operations Manager) to own HR end to end: policy design and compliance with South African labour legislation, the full performance management cycle, employee relations, recruitment and onboarding, learning and development, and the HRIS platform that underpins all of it. You’d also provide strategic HR business partnering to department heads and executives, including workforce planning and succession planning for critical, regulated roles.

This is a remote role reporting to the Chief of Staff, suited to someone detail-oriented, curious and proactive, with genuine interest in process improvement rather than just policy administration. Financial services exposure is a bonus, given the regulatory layer (FSCA Fit & Proper requirements, CPD tracking) woven through the role.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, implementation and continuous improvement of HR policies (recruitment, study leave, wellness, disciplinary, EE/BBBEE) in line with South African labour legislation, including the Employment Equity Act, LRA, BCEA and Skills Development Act
  • Own the end-to-end performance management cycle, including KPI framework design, review facilitation, calibration and reporting to senior management on trends, ratings and development needs
  • Provide strategic HR business partnering to department heads and executives, including workforce planning, organisational design and succession planning for critical and regulated roles
  • Manage employee relations end to end, including grievances, disciplinary processes, CCMA referrals and conflict resolution, ensuring procedural fairness and legal defensibility
  • Oversee recruitment and onboarding, ensuring role profiles, screening and vetting meet both business needs and FSCA Fit & Proper requirements where relevant
  • Manage the Employee Assistance Programme relationship, monitoring utilisation, identifying engagement trends and escalating issues
  • Lead and develop the People Operations team, setting objectives, coaching and managing capacity across HR functions
  • Own HR reporting and people analytics, including headcount, turnover, org structure and performance trends for leadership and the board
  • Drive employee engagement and culture initiatives, including company events, wellness programmes and internal communications
  • Manage internal and external stakeholders, including service providers and consultants
  • Own the Learning & Development function, identifying skills gaps, designing and rolling out training plans, and tracking effectiveness
  • Partner with Compliance on mandatory and regulatory training, including FSCA CPD tracking for representatives
  • Administer and manage the HRIS platform end to end, including employee records, org structure, leave, onboarding and offboarding workflows, and reporting, acting as system owner for data integrity, access control and integrations with payroll
  • Drive adoption and continuous improvement of the HRIS, including user training, troubleshooting and evaluating new features

Requirements:

Essential:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology or a related field
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in a Human Resources environment
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to document and follow processes accurately
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • An analytical, structured mindset with genuine interest in process improvement
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams and manage multiple priorities
  • Comfortable working in a fast-moving, scale-up environment with evolving priorities

Preferred:

  • Financial services exposure
