Business Development Manager

ICT Distribution
Position Overview

Overview

Our client is a well-established IT distribution business operating in South Africa, working closely with global technology vendors including IBM. This role sits within the team responsible for IBM’s Hardware portfolio, reporting to the Business Unit Manager.

As Business Development Manager, you’ll be the person driving the Hardware business forward: opening new opportunities, building the vendor and partner relationships that make deals happen, and establishing yourself as the technology evangelist customers and partners turn to. You’ll work the full commercial cycle, from go-to-market strategy and forecasting to pricing, tenders and business cases for C-level stakeholders, while coaching the wider sales team on the portfolio along the way.

Responsibilities:

  • Build an internal and external business network to support sales success and a positive customer experience
  • Liaise with vendors, alliance vendors and partners to identify new business opportunities

  • Collaborate on business cases for senior stakeholders, including C-level executives and technical partners
  • Build trusted-advisor relationships with colleagues and partners
  • Participate in tender evaluations, product and solution recommendations, and pricing
  • Price products and solutions accurately according to vendor or customer requirements
  • Grow share of wallet for the vendor’s products across the partner base
  • Support the achievement of the vendor’s portfolio revenue and profit targets
