We’re lucky to work with some of the most exciting, fast-growing businesses around the world, from cutting-edge tech platforms in the UK to bold, mission-driven, high-growth startups across the USA. But lately, there’s been a noticeable trend among our global clients: South Africa is becoming their go-to for scaling teams. After many 1:1’s with prospect clients, we understood why. They have been trying to secure smart talent, open to aligned time zones, cost-effective hires, with a hunger for growth that matches any global standard and they’re not finding this talent in their own capacity, in their own country. Between all of our converted clients, there’s a running consensus that South African talent is honestly, just that good. This leads us to the actual case study; see for yourself.
The Client: HR-Tech for global businesses
Founded in 2015 in London, UK, our client’s platform has powered over 5 million candidate experiences annually for global brands. With an internal focus on transparency and a people-first culture, they had already established a fantastic, foundational team. As a tech start-up with incredible scalability, they have won over eleven awards and continue to sign brands with measurable impact.
The Challenge: “Can We Build a High-Impact Sales Team… in South Africa?”
Our client, an ambitious HR-Tech company based in the UK, had a tight-knit team of just over 20 employees, all UK-based. With an exciting roadmap ahead and expansions on the horizon, the CEO approached Sinead with a simple question:
“We’re thinking of expanding into South Africa, can Hustle Co. help us find top-tier talent over there?”
After meeting with the Sales Manager and BDR Manager, the idea was to kick off our new found partnership with the simple task of securing three Sales Development Representatives (SDRs). If the hires were a success, the door would open to building a bigger, more permanent SA-based team.
The Process: Real Partnership, Real Hustle
From day one, we worked closely with the Sales Manager and BDR Manager to:
- Understand their sales goals and team culture.
- Tap into and match-make with our networks of sharp, curious, sales-hungry candidates.
- Run a seamless and highly collaborative recruitment process; interviews, feedback, offers, all in less than 4 weeks.
By mid-May, we had two offers out to two standout candidates.
By end-May, the third hire was confirmed.
And by late June, all three SDRs had officially joined the team.
As of the first week of July, we have core strategic UK management flying down to SA for the onboarding of their new team members.
The Result: 3 Incredible SDRs, 1 Thrilled Team, and Bigger Plans Ahead
The feedback? Glowing.
These hires weren’t just “filling seats.” They were driving conversations, bringing fresh energy, and aligning beautifully with the UK team.
The BDR Manager shared:
“I am very excited to welcome them all into our team – it’s a hell of a team you guys have found us!
The success of these first hires means the next phase is already in motion: the team is planning to grow the South African presence to 10+ roles in the next 6–12 months. We cannot wait to get stuck into further strategy with this amazing team.
To all start-ups outside of our borders, trust in our case studies. SA talent is something special.
